Verint Systems - Auditing Capabilities Before Undertaking New Challenges
OPM Experts LLC played a crucial role in the transformation of Verint Systems' project management capabilities as they embarked on highly technical programs. By conducting a thorough assessment across their global teams and leveraging cutting-edge psychological insights, OPM Experts designed an Enterprise PMO that significantly improved communication, training, ROI measurement, risk management, strategic oversight, and governance. This transformative partnership enabled Verint Systems to optimize project initiation, avoid potential failures, and secure its position as a leader in security, intelligence, and artificial intelligence, showcasing OPM Experts LLC vital contribution to Verint's success.
Challenge
Verint Systems provides monitoring and intercept capabilities to service providers and government organizations using equipment that can access and retain large amounts of information on a vast number of targets. The company sells software and hardware products for customer engagement management, security, surveillance, and business intelligence. Their products are designed to assist clients in data analysis, specifically large data sets, e.g. PRISM (US-984XN) via the Protect America Act supervised by the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA Court, or FISC). Verint was poised to undertake a highly technical program, and OPM Experts LLC was engaged to assess their prospective ability to manage that program.
Solution
In addition to assessing the client’s Organizational Project Management maturity by engaging personnel in America and Israel, we performed a competency assessment of individuals in key roles. Our analysis and recommendations leveraged the work of Daniel Kahneman, an Israeli-American psychologist and winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for the psychology of judgment and decision-making. We developed skill profiles, estimated resource needs to achieve the organization’s priorities, and designed an Enterprise PMO for the client that would:
—Improve overall communication, training, and capabilities
—Improve ROI measurement and validation
—Improve risk management across all programs
—Improve oversight of strategic programs and projects across departments
—Improve governance capabilities at the enterprise level
—Improve demand and resource management for project management
—Result in improved communication tools
—Improve project management standardization including post project reviews
—Leverage existing foundations of PMO efforts already accomplished where appropriate
Results
As a result of our assessment, executives learned exactly what their capabilities were. They were able to pace the initiation of new projects in keeping with the project management capabilities of their personnel and to avoid failures as they faced unprecedented challenges. Verint Systems went on to become one of the world’s largest software and service providers and to deliver pioneering artificial intelligence projects. Today, Verint is a leading provider of security intelligence data mining software, working to increase the use of automation and artificial intelligence technologies across data mining software, to empower security organizations with more accurate predictive intelligence.
